A credit analyst with State Bank of India for the past nine years, and a dreamer by heart since the day she could read a book, there lives in her an insatiable hunger for penning down her thoughts. It can be anything. A flower, a smile, a look that makes her take up her pen and delve deep into the soul, searching for novelty that brings colour to today’s drab and dull life.
Currently posted in the pink city, Kirti actually hails from Kanpur, the paradise for leather lovers. A girl bred and brought up in a small city, but, with dreams larger than life.
She fell in love with books a long time ago and since then, they have been her sole confidantes. Having completed her Honours in English Literature from Christ College, the lass always craved to be in the world of words but ended up with numbers. Her job is undoubtedly her bread and butter but it is writing that is her ultimate marmalade!.
So, enjoying life while it lasts and writing all she can!.
Happy reading!
I read my first book when I was just 8. I still remember it was Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens. My aunt or as we call at home ( tai ji) was an English teacher and she got the book for me from her own school library. I was 'ADDICTED'!!!. And since then words became my companions. I was an avid reader but writing started in 2018 when I met with an accident an was bed ridden for over an year. I was falling into depression and knew that I had to get out of it before it engulfed me completely. That was the first day I wrote a page. And rest just..... followed.
2. What challenges did you face while writing and getting published ?
The foremost challenge in writing a piece is to write something that will engage the readers from the first page and will keep them hooked till the last. I think that anything which catches the attention of the reader is a successful piece. However, publishing or getting published is a different story altogether. It was so difficult to understand the pitching process, the requirements of the publisher and sometimes, even the basic communication fails ! But I am thankful for all of them as these rejections led me to TBB !!!
3. How did you come to know about the literary agency ' The book Bakers' ?
Well, I was sending my manuscripts to different publishers and Suhail Mathur was the first one to have replied ! And I felt so elated that he did !!! It has been a very rewarding experience and i feel that his inputs have glorified my project manifold...
4. How did 'The Book Bakers' help you and what would you like to say about them?
'The Book Bakers' was there every step of the way , whether it be edited or formatting, the title or the book cover, i was given some great advices. I can't thank the team enough for their efforts and cooperation
CHEERS !!!
5. How supportive is the publisher of your work ?
Well, I got published and that says it all 🙂. I feel that the publishers can really make your art count..... their little inputs and the technical know how of the market combined with my writing has brought my book to this shape and i feel so utterly grateful.
6. How do you see literary success for yourself ?
If my reader is happy, they love what they read and if it becomes difficult for them to put the book down, I'm a blessed and a successful writer !!
7. When can we expect your next book ?
Ha ha ha , there is still time for that, though I am really excited to finish the final manuscript.
8. How was your experience working with LHP ?
It was wonderful. The publishers are really reputed and know exactly how to guide and positively steer the author. The experience was thrilling.
9. Any message or tips for aspiring authors ?
Well, I myself am taking the first steps in the field of writing so I would just impart what I have learnt from penning my two books: ' If you want to be a writer - 'Write'..... Just be a persistent, consistent and an active learner. Just hang in there. The journey is arduous but the rewards are greatly fulfilling. Happy writing !!
